Our mission is a sustainable nuclear recycling approach aligned with national objectives for energy security and decarbonization under Energy Strategy 2050.
Nanolux is a Swiss deep-tech company based in Zug. We develop a next-generation dry-physical robotic process that selectively recovers valuable fissile isotopes from spent nuclear fuel and enables their reuse for energy.
Guided by the principle “Waste to Watt,” we transform long-lived radioactive residues into a safe, CO₂-free energy source. Our technology significantly reduces both the volume and long-term radiotoxicity of high-level waste that would otherwise require geological disposal.
What sets us apart is our combination of robotic workflows, digital twins (twin-tech), and a dry, modular process architecture engineered for maximum safety, precision, and reproducibility. Virtual commissioning, continuous simulation, and end-to-end traceability enhance quality and throughput—from initial conditioning steps to the delivery of transport- and storage-ready materials.
Beyond our core processes, we develop mobile solutions such as MobiMOX, a licensed on-site unit that accepts SNF, processes it via dry routes, separates isotopes, and produces compliant, transport- and storage-ready forms. This minimizes interface risks, reduces logistical complexity, and streamlines operations for partners and facility operators.
Our mission is clear: to enable a sustainable, safe, and economically viable future for nuclear recycling. By advancing circular use of nuclear materials, we aim to support national goals for energy independence and a carbon-free energy strategy.
At Nanolux, our leadership team combines more than 25 years of hands-on experience in the nuclear industry. We are engineers at heart—problem-solvers driven by precision, safety, and a deep commitment to shaping the future of sustainable nuclear technology.
Our backgrounds span nuclear engineering, process design, safety and compliance, robotics, and large-scale industrial operations. Over the past two decades, we have led complex decommissioning projects, developed advanced fuel-cycle technologies, and worked closely with regulators, utilities, and research institutions across Europe.
What unites us is a shared belief that the next generation of nuclear innovation must be safer, cleaner, and more circular. This mindset is the foundation of Nanolux. It is why we challenge conventional approaches, why we build modular robotic systems instead of legacy wet-chemical processes, and why we focus on solutions that turn nuclear waste into new energy potential.
We bring together engineering excellence with entrepreneurial vision—combining the rigor of the nuclear sector with the speed and creativity of deep-tech innovation. Our team is driven not only by what nuclear technology has been, but by what it can become: a cornerstone of secure, low-carbon energy for generations to come.
